    St. Stephens October 17th 1836

    Dear Brother,
I take my pen to write you a few lines just to return you thanks for the present you sent me by Mr. Weeks; and am thankful that you have not yet forgotten me. I am in very good health at present. But am sorry that I have not made greater progress in learning; I have not been at school more than half my time, therefore I have not ciphered farther than Vulgar Fractions; but hope if spared to make better progress than I have in time past.

    From your Affectionate Brother,
    Francis Yelland
